Spiritualism, was/is a set of beliefs that focuses on speaking to the dead for advice. I find the spiritualism movement, especially its roots in the 1800s, a fascinating time/phenomena in American history. In particular, I found the true tales of Pearl Curran and the Fox Sisters to be of particular interest.
Pearl Curran published many books and plays - but she herself did not write them. A spirit named Patience Worth wrote them all, using Pearl as a conduit. The Fox Sisters would communicate with the departed in such ways that packed auditoriums could audibly hear the responses from the dead.
I created two Spiritualism books in one. The first focused on Curran and the other on the Fox Sisters. Each book tells the story of the subjects and includes 10 pieces of original art I created that illustrate the story of each.
